Fossil Free Illinois
Fossil Free Illinois is a group of students and activists at the University of Illinois dedicated to seeing the university divest from fossil fuels. I got their marketing off the ground.
The Task:
Pass a divestment referendum in the Illinois Student Council.
My Role:
Marketing director and lead videographer
The Problem:
The University of Illinois has 170 million invested in fossil fuels. Most students don’t know this, but don’t like it once they find out.
The Insight:
To the average college student, caring isn’t cool. Sure, they care about the environment, but are afraid to do so publicly.
The Gameplan:
We made a social media campaign that made environmentalism cool.
Creative Samples:
The Outcome:
A combination of street level canvassing and social media executions helped our referendum pass, with a campus record 3,500 votes.
